Changes in housing configurations are a growing challenge for cities, and is top of mind for the European Residential Product Council at the Urban Land Institute (ULI), who at their recent convening in Copenhagen, hosted by Rambøll, sourced input from the Copenhagen context. The International Federation for Housing & Planning (IFHP) had the pleasure on May 9th 2019, to act as facilitator and jury member, when the Copenhagen Municipality led "Climate Ambassador Programme" held a workshop for approximately 25 young Climate Ambassadors.

Social sustainability in practice was the headline, when on April 11th, 70 participants met in Aalborg, Denmark’s 4th largest city (140.000 inhabitants). Participants, representing city departments, private social organizations and housing entrepreneurs, discussed how cities can provide the basis for a good life for all citizens, including socially marginalized and other vulnerable people.

On Thursday, January 24th, the IFHP revealed its first results from applying the Social Cities Index on a selected Danish municipality. This took place at the conference “Measuring what matters”, where city leaders, statisticians, architects, and urbanists - representing a variety of Danish municipalities - met to share preliminary experiences with the Social Cities Index. The case from the Danish municipality formed round table discussions during the day.
